With chronic headaches, you may need to come in a few times during the week before starting to feel some relief and then, it becomes almost a maintenance to control the condition. There are many different types of Acupressure mat. For moderate to severe pain, acupressure probably won't help as much. Although it will increase circulation to your feet and overall, but if the pain is daily, chronic, unbearable, or "a lot" in your case, it probably won't alleviate it so much to the point you don't need any other treatments. I would certainly get a mat to help with your overall health. I would suggest you get a TDP heat lamp on amazon about $100 or so and lay down and use that instead.

If you have knee pain for one month, then you'd better get some treatments done to avoid it becoming chronic. The needles are usually inserted right into the knee; there are 4 typical knee points that we do to increase circulation and help the knee recover. It's usually pain-free. We'd do electrical acupuncture as well as cupping around the leg to help blood flow. It's true acupuncture can help with knee pain; we've helped hundreds of patients with knee problems.

Acupuncture is generally not recommended for patients pregnant in the first trimester due to high numbers of failed carriages in general. Although we have successfully treated patients with nausea and vomiting with light acupuncture in the first trimester. There are certain contraindication points we are trained to avoid. Another example of when acupuncture is not recommended for use is with children under a certain age unless you are specifically trained in pediatrics field. There are many more instances when acupuncture is not recommended, such as patients with extreme sensitivity - usually very, very thin patients who are afraid of needles - less muscle and fat makes it more sensitive. Or patients who have an inability to relax - needle retention is not possible - in this case, either acupressure or quick needling techniques may be more helpful. One more example may be if the patient has cancerous cells ex: oedematous limb at the risk of lymphodema. Usually, acupuncture is very safe; however, every patient should be evaluated before treatment.

Cupping helps draw out unnecessary substances from the body, it's a great way to detox and relief muscle tensions. For example, if you are a swimmer, you're soaked in water and chlorine frequently, so, in Chinese medicine philosophy, there could be too much dampness in the body, or chlorine toxicity. Cupping can help with these conditions. It might not directly help you keep your mind "focused," but detox and muscle tension relief in general can help you feel more relaxed and clean - hence indirectly affect your mood/focus. But usually, cupping is not associated with mind focusing if that's what you're asking.
