I was sitting at my desk this morning, here in Mount Gambier, and it came to me just how overwhelming it can be when implementing new projects and changes. It’s hard to believe I have been writing these weekly newsletters for over 10 years. That’s over 520 newsletters.
If you had told me back in 2012 that I had to write 500+ newsletters, I definitely would have said I don’t think I would be able to do that — it sounds like too difficult and too big of a commitment. But when I shift my perspective and just focus on writing one newsletter per week, it became achievable.
Over the years I learned that in supporting and guiding people to become well, over-come a diagnosed illness or disease, overcome addictions, obstacles, anxiety, or fear. It was important to begin by saying, "You can do this, let's take things one day at a time."
You don’t have to give up the sugar, drugs, alcohol, or nicotine for 20 years—just for today. One day then leads to two days, which leads to seven years than a lifetime. I think the same is true for me, with this Newsletter. I schedule my time to spend an hour or two every week planning and writing this Newsletter, and before you know it, I have written over 500—amazing.
Think of things you want to accomplish in your life, the changes you want to make to accomplish these things, and how you want to be. Then concentrate, schedule your time, and make a list of the steps you need to take today or this week. Don’t focus on the years or decades ahead. This approach truly works, and it’s amazing what you can accomplish.
I have also found that bringing to my mind the things that I have already accomplished in my life because these are often forgotten and taken over by anxiety or fear, helps to reinforce that this is achievable by taking things one day at a time. This is true for me when I established my clinical practice where I worked for 28 years and developed my membership programs and courses that have taken 9 years.
When I commenced my studies 40 years ago, I never even dreamed that would be where I am now. And definitely wouldn't have imagined all the people that I have been able to help, with my knowledge, experience, eBooks, and courses.
To remember this all happens "One Day at a Time".
Hope you all have an amazing week ahead.
Wishing You the Best, Julie
P.S. I want to give an extra special thank you to anyone who has been reading my Newsletters for the past ten years. Now that is a true accomplishment.
