The hearings on the Capitol invasion on January 6th or 2021 reached their conclusions to the general public via television yesterday. To those who were constantly tuned in prior, there were few surprises. There's the rub! It was humdrum evil, obvious and familiar. Perhaps we are too comfortable with it. If so, it is the responsibility of the Democrats to produce and stoke outrage. Last night the result was mediocre.
It has been suggested that the world's people are suffering from Covid-induced exhaustion and impotent rage. But in the USA that rage has led to a geometric increase in gun violence. The voices of sedition and insurrection predict civil war. Those voices have their flamethrower in the man who should be indicted, the progenitor of the big lie, assaulter of women and their rights, despiser of Blacks, Browns, and Semites, diagnosed by a qualified niece as a psychopath. The cold fire of prejudice and hate is awaiting further ignition. The President can't emphasize external diplomatic effort and rely on "for God's sake" for the cold fire within our midst.
