I have addressed the role of academic institutions in previous publications of the Octogenarians and in prior editions of this blog. The issue of alternative truths to spare feelings under threat of loss of financial support has been raised as unacceptable policy when lives are at risk. The destruction of an underclass as the price of progress has seldom been challenged seriously. Keniston was part of the Yale faculty (Psychiatry) in the 1960s and I believe left for Cornell. Now in his 90s, I believe he is working with governments to blunt academic imperialism. Elite institutions have created schools and campuses across the world with Deans and degree granting capability. Ostensibly these are the equivalents of stateside structures. Having gone through the process of giving up my fellow status at Branford College at Yale with return of the seal, I think that what we are seeing is yet another part of the billionaire's game with these adjunct but equivalent institutions aimed at the wealthy and privileged of other countries. On examining names associated with Yale's colleges I find sons and daughters of previous "service" personnel are well represented.

The billionaire's view of the world and its future involves a concept of deserving poor. Such a concept means that all legislation for assistance is time limited and subject to legislative renewal. What is needed is legislation that guarantees survival to the poor with assured care and limitation to childbearing. Physicians paid to keep people healthy rather than paid to cure with the option of turning down government sources of payment.

Something atavistic has been turned loose by Omicron and isolation it is angry and destructive and rages first against visible minorities and women. It has the potential to destroy the best aspects of medical practice, invoking abandoned theory and belief. I believe that the billionaire's view is ultimately dooming.
