Even though 75 percent of Americans over 18 have received at least one vaccination, the goal set by the Biden administration has not been reached (70% fully). The reason appears to be a combination of vaccine phobia, misunderstanding of the lethality of the virus, and most seriously, political assertion of freedom to avoid mandatory vaccination. The last appears to be a strategy of the GOP to undermine the Biden administration and when linked to voter suppression to assure the control of the future by a white minority.The covid surge is 28.9 percent child fueled, with 42 million infections mostly among the unvaccinated. But the crime is the leaping aboard vaccine hesitancy by cynical politicians who either support the Big Lie or fear the perception of their supporting a multiracial democracy. The examination of the January 6th insurrection is continuing but hampered by the same factors that plague child support, DACA restoration, women's reproductive rights, the concept of a safety net, etc. The dominant viral strain is still Delta, the Mu variant is still offshore but Delta variation is giving us more than we can handle in terms of morbidity and mortality.
