The only President that I met, shook hands with spoke with briefly and whose expectations I could not possibly meet (see the Chinese circle of life in a much earlier blog) has decided to stop medical care and pass into the dark surrounded by loving family. He was a southern democrat who returned to Congress after his Presidency. He did oversee the dismantling of the CMHC act after it was declared unconstitutional by SCOTUS. His most memorable acts were in support of physical endeavors by him and his wife Rosalyn building homes for the poor, elderly, and homeless.
Something irrational wishes that he would go on to 100. But the symbolism of 100 has little meaning when pain and suffering are the prices paid. At least the Càrters were assured of a dedicated medical team who in the end was struggling vainly against the Grim Reaper. The young may die the old will die is an old saying, so for the elderly follow PUBLIC HEALTH guidelines avoid mass gatherings, use masks indoors, and get the most recent vaccines asap. Despite the example of the Càrters, foreign travel is a bad idea.
