Ecological disasters are sweeping the USA. In the wake of climate change pursuant to global warming, here in California flash fires are burgeoning both North and South. Firefighters, homeowners and police are fighting back using hoses, fire retardants, defoliants, etc. saving lives is the first priority, (human and animal), saving homes and property is a not so close second. We are thrilled by the retardant carrying planes and helicopters and none will decry their use. But once the fire threat is dispelled, (and we have a long way to go) we are left with the contamination of land and especially water by the retardants and defoliants.

We have discussed microplastics and macroplastics, their damage to the environment and the life within it. So too we have discussed the organophosphates and their damaging effects, we know that the retardants and defoliants are loaded with them and their subsequent removal or neutralization is still a pending matter. On Sunday, November 3rd, John Cherna reported the death of Mongolian Groom in the last race at Santa Anita on Breeders Cup day marking the 37th death at Santa Anita since December 30th.

Near the eve of the Breeders Cup John Cherna of the L.A. Times (Tuesday Oct. 26 issue) reminds us of the spate of horse deaths at Santa Anita and other tracks and tells us of the use of biophosphonate an anti-inflammatory agent that can mask the presence of sesamoiditis in young horses; used against osteoporosis in humans. The drug can only be detected in the blood for fewer than thirty days. The weakened sesamoid bone results in an undetected lame horse which can collapse in a race and will have to be destroyed. Phosphorus seems to be an element (one of many) which mankind is destined to find troublesome.

We have been notified by Google of the arrival of the quantum computer and it's capacity to solve monstrous problems in less than 4 minutes, problems which the fastest conventional computers would require days, perhaps years and huge space to solve. This is occurring as powerful light telescopes are scanning successfully remote regions of our solar system to begin counting the moving light sources. We are told that this counting can tell us eventually the time between the big bang and the creation of the first solar bodies.

This time interval in turn relating to universe expansion, the role of dark energy and dark matter and the possibility of parallel universes, with different parameters like the speed of light, leaking dark energy into our universe. The counting which could take hundreds of years will be greatly facilitated by a quantum computer of great size and capacity and putting the knowledge availability within the lifespan of individuals. But of course we have to survive, toxicities, water and food shortage, and our own selfish inability to plan holistically as a world entity.
