Kimberly A. Mahr

Counselor/Therapist | Professional

I am a Licensed Counselor in the state of Arizona and am also licensed to practice therapy via telehealth in the state of Florida. I have advanced clinical training and experience in the areas of eating disorder recovery, pre-verbal (early life) trauma, trauma-based dissociation, complex trauma, recent incident trauma, navigating life transitions, and mood disorders. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and I use EMDR and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as two of many ways to help my clients find relief from all manner of challenges.

I use a holistic, "bottom up" approach to mental health to help clients regulate and adjust the visceral responses they experience as a result of trauma. I use a solid framework of somatic and polyvagal approaches to help my clients understand and re-wire their autonomic nervous system responses, which gives them the power to better navigate triggers and powerful emotional responses while we work on healing them from the inside out.

In my clinical practice I welcome adults (ages 18+) from all backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, physical abilities, and relationship configurations. I recognize that there are cultural, religious, and family factors that may influence your decisions and how you live your life, and I honor that understanding in our work together. I am LGBTQIA aligned and provide a friendly, safe and accepting place for all people.

I am proud to be a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a member of Chi Sigma Iota (honor society for counselors), and am an Arizona state approved clinical Supervisor. I am also an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix Masters In Clinical Mental Health program and on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Counseling Association.
