Are there any natural alternatives to Plavix?

I've been taking Plavix for 6 years after my heart bypass but I don't like the side effects. I also take low-dose aspirin with it. I've read that I can take natural anticoagulants, like garlic, Cayenne pepper, and Turmeric in place of Plavix. Is it safe to take these natural alternatives?

I do not know why you are given plavix with asa for 6 yrs after CABG. Did you have stroke ? If you did not have stroke, you do not need both. Just baby asa is adequate
Natural anticoagulants are not a substitute for plavix. They do not work as effectively. Since you are over a year out from your surgery you can discuss it your cardiologist if you need to remain on plavix or if you can be on aspirin alone. This will depend on several factors and a thorough review of your cardiovascular disease would need to be completed.
At 6 years post-procedure, coronary bypass, if plavix is not tolerated, aspirin alone as mono therapy would be acceptable.
NO there isn't. Under certain circumstances, the stopping of Plavix and starting of a natural alternative can be catastrophic. Check with your doctor before stopping ANY medications.
These natural supplements are safe. However, they are not as effective in treating heart disease as the other "blood thinners." Having said that, unless there are specific problems, most bypass patients only need either aspirin or Plavix, but not both.
