Are these symptoms common with gallstones?

I have been unwell for the past few weeks I have been struggling with constipation and diarrhea. I also have a yellow runny stool. I was diagnosed today with gallstones.

No, your symptoms are not related to gallstones. Look for another explanation such as irritable bowel syndrome.
Gallstones form in the gall bladder. A stone may move up into the bile duct and get caught. This causes pain in the epigastrium. The pain is usually local but may expand in the upper abdominal region. The intestinal symptoms you mention indicate irritable bowel which may have a different cause. Still, Yellow stool is a sign of fat passage and may occur when bile is not entering the small intestine. And the pancreas duct enters the small intestine at the same site as the bile duct. So it too could be blocked. So your group of symptoms may connect.
