Autoimmune diseases and Insomnia?

I have Hashimoto's and RA. I'm always tired. Being active is exhausting, frustrating, and difficult. I sleep a lot but every so often (once bi-monthly) I get a day where I am not tired and I am capable. I often use those days to thoroughly clean my house, run every errand I can think of, and everything else I can fit in. I take full advantage of those good days. The problem is on these good days I can't sleep. I will be awake for 24-36 hours before I pass out. At which time I will only sleep for approximately 4 to 6 hours, be awake for 4 to 6 hours, then sleep about 12 hours before going back to my regular routine. Does anyone know why I stay awake so long? What exactly is happening? Right now I've been awake for 26 hours. There's nothing to do, I've done it all, now I want to sleep but I lay there thinking. Is this something I should be concerned about?

I would refer you to a Sleep Specialist for sleep study and other evaluations
Hello,

Most likely, the fatigue relates to inflammation activity in your body from RA. And, your energy cycles likely relate to medications you are taking.
