Boxer Fracture

I have a boxer fracture on my right hand. It happened last month on 09/11. Today I met up with a hand surgeon and they told me to stop using the splint. There's a dull pain in my hand that travels down to my wrist and the top of my forearm.

I know I can just take ibuprofen for the pain, but I'm worried about that pain being there at all. I've tried looking up if it's a common thing for people with a boxer fracture to have, and I found nothing.

Is this something I should go back to the doctor for? Is it just temporary pain from trying to rehabilitate the movement in my fingers?
(The x-rays were taken 10/19)

A 5-6 week fracture certainly can still ache at times
Stiffness, decreased strength or fatigue from not using and even residual fracture tenderness are all possible. Certainly if you are concerned about the degree of pain or you feel you are not at the point you feel you should be in the healing process or for any concerns you should always speak to the doctor caring for you in person who knows the true details of your specific fracture pattern and how it looks on X-rays as well as can make a decision as to if you need therapy or there are issues with nerve tendon or joint stiffness that need to be evaluated or if there is more to this thst meets the eye.

The pain is likely due to stiffness from being in the splint the required amount of time for the bone to heal. Hand motion will likely improve the pain. I don’t believe you need to go back to the hand surgeon.
