Broken wrist problems?

My wife broke her wrist 2 months ago and she can’t close her hand more than halfways. It hurts to try to force it closed. What should she do?

It sounds like you should be evaluated by a Board-Certified Fellowship-Trained Hand surgeon.
I'd be happy to see you.
please call 413-582-2600 to make an appointment.
She should see the orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and treatment recommendations. She may need physical therapy as well.

Good luck,

That’s unfortunate and I’m sorry to hear that. I would check with her orthopedic surgeon first. Make sure the bone is in good alignment. After that, hand therapy is the key.

See an orthopedic surgeon.
If she has not seen a hand specialist, then she should. That being said, she would probably benefits from a referral to occupational therapy.
Kindly get her evaluated by a Physical therapist or an Occupational therapist. They may start her on the mobilization of her wrist and hand joints to improve flexibility and mobility and then strengthen it. Delay could make the stiffness permanent causing significant difficulties with daily chores due to limited use of the hand. At home you may try hand exs during/after immersion of hand into warm water (or a wax bath which can be purchased online for less than 100$) will be great as long as you follow cold water immersion for 5-10 mins after the exs to reduce swelling if there is any already (if she is diabetic, then this needs to be done under the guidance of a therapist initially). Thank you.
See an orthopedic hand or trauma specialist. She may just need occupational therapy, but she may need some sort of surgery.
