CKD and taking Omeprazle?

I have CKD stage 3 after having to have a kidney removed 6 years ago due to cancer. My Kidney function has been stable up to now at about eGFR40. I have bad stomach acid and reflux and have now been prescribed Omeprazle 20mg to be taken daily long term. I am very concerned after reading cases of Omeprazle causing kidney problems, I have asked my GP but he didn't seem too concerned or offer an alternative medication, he only advised I could perhaps take Omeprazle every other day. This did not seem a complete or possibly safe answer to the problem.

Your concern is reasonable. Omeprazole can cause kidney injury as allergic interstitial nephritis. It is a common cause of allergic interstitial nephritis worldwide. It is appropriate to substitute famodipine.
