CT scan appointment?

My orthopedic surgeon is wanting a CT scan to see the progress of bone growth. I am to be expecting a call about setting an appointment for such a scan. How many days should I wait for them to contact me before I call his office to see if his staff members have dropped the ball on this? Also, frustrated as I have had the same surgery twice, and if things do not look any clearer or with a CT Scan a third attempt may be needed, as my bone is not mending. I am not sure he thought about things enough before suggesting surgery. I was born with a bone cyst or (hollow area in my leg) and it broke in 1985 during sports activity it did not heal as the DR. then had hoped, he hoped bone marrow would fill in a spot as it was trying to mend bone together, instead, he had to fill it with Cadaver bone and the slow healing caused leg to curve which now that I am older... has caused pain in foot and ankle while walking and standing. that is why we did the surgery, but you would think this doctor would have taken into consideration the time it took for it to heal back then or even what the x-ray looked like as far as bone density that has developed over the past 35 years before suggesting surgery.

So sorry you're struggling. CT is the best way to look for what is called bony bridging and to see the internal and cortical architecture of your bone. So frustrating...I haven't walked in your shoes, but I've seen a bunch. Might consider 2nd opinion...these situations can be so touchy. Dunno about where you're being scanned, but largely depends on wrangling with the insurance companies.
All the best.
Always a wise idea and action to seek a second opinion from another ABOS certified Orthopedic Surgeon.
