At minimum the patient having a liver biopsy "without " Anesthesia will probably benefit from sterile technique, appropriate positioning and some sedation and local anesthesia. Where in the liver will the be from? Superficially? Close to the portal triad (deep)? Left side, right side, back? How skilled is the person taking the Biopsy? Ask. How 'tough' is the patient being biopsies? Necessary preprocedure inquiries.
Yea they can use a local anesthetic. Often they will give some relaxation medicine like a benzodiazepine so you aren’t wiggling around in the scanner.
