Overwhelmingly patients with myopia make the best candidates, and LASIK can treat even the highest degrees of myopia and astigmatism. The most important determinant is the thickness of the cornea and the corneal shape, which is tested during your consultation. I have performed over 18,000 LASIK procedures on patients in the top 1% of the world with myopia and astigmatism over my 34 year professional career.

Yes, LASIK can correct your nearsightedness/myopia. You will need a thorough eye examination including a refraction which will determine your actual prescription, amount of your myopia, your general eye health, and if there is any associated astigmatism present.
If this is something that you want to pursue, you will need an appointment with an eye doctor in order to discuss all of your refractive surgery options.
There are also non-surgical options including wearing glasses or contact lenses. And you should ask any and all questions so that you are aware of including the costs, risks, benefits, recovery time, and long-term issues. Good luck and best wishes.
