“Can Regesterone tablets cause weight gain?”
The doctor has me on Regesterone tablets to get my periods regulated. But, I know there are a lot of side effects associated with it. Can this tablet also cause weight gain?

You mean Progesterone I assume. Sporadic use should not cause weight gain to talk about. Use of high doses for long period of time maybe a different story
Do you mean progesterone? Progesterone is widely used to cause the onset of a menstrual cycle and, typically, does not cause weight gain, but I don’t know your dosage or which regimen you are using.
Not having regular cycles can be quite dangerous, leading to uterine cancer, infertility, and even death. Although skipping cycles seems minor to most patients, it is quite serious and should be treated.

Progesterone hormone itself does not cause weight gain, it causes increased appetite which in turn causes weight gain. If you watch what you eat and exercise, your weight should be controlled.

I assume you are referring to progesterone. This medication is effective with period control but there are side effects. To answer your question, the answer is yes, they can cause weight gain. Progesterone can make your body retain water weight. They also increase appetite which may also increase weight. You have to weigh your options. Sometimes a Mirena IUD is a good solution, even though it is progesterone based. The progesterone in the IUD acts more locally than systematically so you should not have the side effects that you experience with a pill. Also, the IUD is good for 5 years
