“Can a chiropractor help with dislocated rib?”
I was diagnosed with a dislocated rib. Is it serious? Can a chiropractor help with dislocated rib?

In short - YES.
Ribs have articulations just like any other joint complex that a chiropractor may address. This would include a proper history taking, followed by the appropriate muscle, neurologic and orthopedic evaluation to identify which segment(s) are fixated or unfacilitated. Any adjustments that may be performed would be based on the findings and the absence of any contraindications. These adjustments may be made either manually or with an instrument and often provide immediate lasting relief.

I would recommend that you see a Orthopedic Physician first for a dislocated rib. If the rib is slightly misaligned (subluxation), then a Chiropractor could help. Otherwise, start with the Orthopedist.
Great Question! When dealing with rib head dislocations or luxations, we must differentiate whether it is a muscular pain commonly associated with subluxations, or dislocations, wholly separated; both are painful, causing muscle spasms. Chiropractors are skilled in adjusting the spine, and since most ribs are attached to the spine, except for one, a chiropractor can help using learned extremity techniques and non-force adjustments. A complete evaluation involving X-rays is recommended before commencing care. Dr. Archer Irby, DC, is a top chiropractor in Brooklyn, NY, and has successfully treated such problems.
Chiropractors adjust ribs all the time! I suggest getting adjusted especially if you have pain with breathing, coughing, sneezing, etc. Thank you for your time!
If the rib is truly "dislocated," you should go to an Emergency Room. Fortunately, that is EXTREMELY rare. It is very common for a rib to become "subluxated". This means the joint is stuck and not moving correctly. A chiropractor can find and mobilize these joints. A subluxated rib can be very painful, affecting your ability to work, exercise, and even breathe. Chiropractic adjustments can provide fast relief from rib pain.
