Thank you, and great question, one I am happy to address. Chiropractic means "done by hand," and chiropractors often use their hands to adjust the spine using a controlled gentle thrust or a device. To be effective when addressing misalignment of the spine, it is prudent to take an x-ray of the spinal area (cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine) to begin the correction process. This process occurs over time with care, beginning with initial intensive care, corrective care, and elective or wellness care. Much like orthodontic braces for the teeth to help restore the proper position and motion of spinal bones, the chiropractor's hands or device is used to align the spine via regular spinal adjustments, and correction is made over time. As always, please speak with your local chiropractor so they can help you decide what is best for you and your spinal condition.
In my opinion chiropractic works on mobility of the spine which affects muscle tone and alignment follows muscle behavior.
A Chiropractor adjusts the Spine to free up motion in joints that are stuck. Many times, alignment is improved over time and a series of these Chiropractic Adjustments.
