To fully answer that question I would need to know what part of the colon is being resected and why. The one definite I can answer is that any abdominal surgery comes with a 10% lifetime risk of obstruction due adhesions - most can be managed non-operatively.
Possible bowel obstruction or strictures, mainly Surgical complications.
Yes, it is possible to have diarrhea, depending on how much colon is resected. Otherwise, there are no major consequences.
