Allergist & Immunologist Questions Nasal Congestion

Can foam mattress cause allergy

About one year ago I got my daughter a Tempur-pedic mattress. I didn’t put two and two together until today but she has been having back and forth nasal congestion, stuffy ears, and random sneezing for about a year. She went to an allergist two days ago who attempted a skin scratch test. The doc came in the room 20 mins later said my daughters skin was to thick and the test didn’t take. She wanted to do the needle test with 34 tests spots. I refused and will find a new doc but we left clueless as to what she can be allergic to. The allergist did mention she has some small cobblestones from allergy on her inner lower eyelid and told her to use Pataday twice a day. We have a eye doc appt tomorrow. Have you ever heard of a memory foam allergy? Also ever heard of skin too thick for a scratch test? Thanks !

A foam mattress can cause allergy symptoms due to dust mite allergy. A zip-on allergen-proof cover may help. Skin prick tests can be logistically difficult in some circumstances. Intradermal tests (needles) may be more diagnostic. Find an Allergist you're comfortable with and complete an evaluation.
