Ear-Nose and Throat Doctor (ENT) Questions Ear ache

Why?

Why is it when I blow/apply pressure when I close my mouth, it feels like the air is passing through my jaw to my ear and after it hurts, although this isn’t life threatening I’m just wondering what happens when I do that .

You are blowing air through your eustachian tubes
Whenever you do this, you are pushing air up through Eustachian tube into your ears. This tube connects back of your nose to middle ear on respective side. Try not to put too much pressure whenever you do it. Hope this answers your concerns Dr Sharma
You are passing air through the eustachian tube, this tube connects the throat with the middle ear and helps equalize pressure in the middle ear. If it is uncomfortable it suggest that there is some swelling of the tissues within this space. An antihistamine on a regular basis should prove helpful
