Can sinus surgery be done with local anesthesia?

I will have sinus surgery. I wonder if sinus surgery can be done with local anesthesia?

Not typically. Sinus surgery is often done with a navigation system that does not work well with any patient movement.
Sinus surgery typically cannot be done with local. Of course that depends on the nature and extent of the procedure. If you are going into a hospital to have it done then I will assume it is something that cannot be done under local. Your airway has to be protected to prevent the blood from sinus surgery entering your lungs which will require general anesthesia. Hope that helps!
I’ve never seen it done but best to check with your surgeon. Most sinus surgery is uncomfortable at best and at times bloody despite attempts to vasoconstrict and apply local anesthetic. The local is basically to provide post op comfort and carry the epinephrine to vasoconstrict. Sinuses can also harbor pus and secretions so your airway should be protected with general anesthesia
