Colon spasms?

I take Tramadol for pain regularly at times. I see it can cause muscle spasms. I don't get them but have an irritable bowel. I have colon spasms from time to time. Could Tramadol be causing this?

I have not heard of tramadol causing colon spasms, but if you stop the tramadol, and then the spasms recur once you restart the tramadol, then that is more convincing that the tramadol is the explanation.
Tramadol is an opioid drug. It can cause constipation, vomiting and can worsen IBS symptoms. If you notice that your IBS symptoms get worse while on Tramadol, you may want to talk to your physician regarding alternative pain medication.
