Cough that won’t go away?

I have had a cough that won’t go away which seems like it has been a year now. It’s quite irritating honestly. Is there a medicine I can take that will help? Or what could be the cause of this?

There are several things that can cause an annoying cough depending on what is going on. It is hard to know if there is a medicine that can help as you don’t know the cause. Some common causes of an annoying dry cough are uncontrolled asthma, acid reflux, or post nasal drip from allergies or irritations. If you have not done so yet, I would recommend seeing a doctor so they can check you out and figure out what the cause is.

Chronic cough for a long duration is almost one of, or a combination of the following: allergies (drainage), asthma (cough variant), acid reflux, or anxiety. If no answers are found, a neurogenic cough may be the explanation, treated with a nerve modulator. A scope/work up on clinic is recommended
Can not opine on causation lacking further information. You need to have a chest Xray or CT scan. See an internist. Probably have pulmonary function tests. Obtain sputum cultures. Reflux or other esophageal pathology is a possibility. Have any inhalant allergies? Been out of the country in the past year?
