Could a toothache be caused by getting braces?

My back teeth hurt on the top on the side. Could a toothache be caused by getting braces?

Definitely since all teeth are being pulled on
Possibly but not likely. Please consult with both your orthodontist and your general dentist.
Yes, and most likely more than one tooth for a few days after braces are placed and at appointments where new arch wires are placed. Teeth are very sensitive to any change in force or pressure to move them for a few days and common pain relievers should help get you more comfortable, Persistent pain in only one area is not the norm and your orthodontist should be notified to find and eliminate the cause.
No, but as your bite changes you may find that you are hitting hard on some teeth which can cause sensitivity. Occasionally, a tooth that is not in great health can be pushed over the edge by orthodontic forces, so best to inquire at your next orthodontic visit!
It depends on the type of pain. Moving teeth makes them sore to chew on, but usually not a constant throb.

Depends on what you are calling a toothache. Soreness is common, but rarely pain. Pain can occur, but it usually means either:

1. That tooth is hitting another tooth too much = traumatic occlusion
2. The painful tooth is stuck
Or
3. There is something wrong with the tooth.

Things like this happen sometimes randomly also. You should see your doctor and ask them to take a look at it.
Your teeth are being moved into a better position, but that takes force to move them. That pushing and pulling can manifest in tooth aches! This is different than cavity pain, but can be dull and constant. Ask your treating dr what they suggest to help.
Yes but it is probably temporary due to tooth movement. You can have your orthodontist take a look the next time you’re in.
Yes! Tooth movement is painful. This is usually worse for a couple of days after braces have been tightened or adjusted, and then should return back to normal. If it does not, you should follow up with your dentist.
