Could it be a torn tendon?

My wrist started hurting Monday morning. And it only seems to be getting worse. It hurts every time I move it and especially when I apply pressure. It doesn't seem to be swollen, no bruising either.

It sounds like you should be evaluated by a Board-Certified Fellowship-Trained Hand surgeon.
I'd be happy to see you.

The following are my thoughts, and sometimes my tips and suggestions in response to your inquiry:

Thanks for sharing your MSK (Musculoskeletal) issue. Oftentimes, the history (of how the pain began, when it began, and what makes it better/worse) is an important part of the diagnosis and the treatment plan. A tendon is a rope-like structure that connects a muscle to a bone. The tendon has many fibers. If some get stretched, or torn, then this usually comes from a specific traumatic event. If there was no specific traumatic event, then it is not likely to be a tear. However, if there is overuse of a tendon, microscopic tearing can occur, and this can lead to an inflammatory response. Inflammation involves swelling, pain, warmth and discoloration (redness). Therefore, the feeling of pain and loss of function can become worse before it becomes better. I’m happy to read that there was no swelling or bruising. After a day or two, activities towards regaining full movement should occur, and this link can help: https://www.pop-doc.com/joint-preactive.html. If the pain becomes worse and swelling occurs, after 6-9 days, then an appointment with a doctor may be best.

Good Afternoon. Unless you had some form of traumatic event very unlikely that you have torn a tendon. More likely a strain which is a stretch from contact or over use. Can occur from sports, lifting, gripping, typing etc. should try to rest by decreasing activities which may cause overuse. Brace Wrist/ hand if necessary to rest. Apply ice several times daily and light controlled stretching. Can also try a topical anti inflammatory. If not improving almost daily see an orthopedic surgeon. Good luck.
You did not mention if you had an injury. This is more likely tendinitis. Some over-the-counter anti-inflammatories would be a good thing provided not have any allergies or side effects to these types of medication’s. They are known to bother people’s G.I. tract. Tylenol probably do not have any liver issues is also an option. If it does not improve with some rest and the medication you should visit orthopedist or hand specialist for evaluation.
It depends on where it hurts. Doubt its a torn tendon/ligament. Most likely it's tendinitis. Try an over the counter wrist brace and NSAIDs, ice; give it a few weeks; and if not better, go see an ortho.
Have you injured it in any way? Try a course of rest, Ice, and NSAIDS. If that doesn't work, seek medical attention.
