Do they numb you for cavity fillings?

I will have a cavity filling. I want to know if they numb you for cavity fillings?

You will be anesthetized (numbed) to have a cavity filled. Very rarely will a Dentist come across a patient who does not required anesthetic. But for your comfort and ease of the treatment it is advisable to be "numbed."
Yes. It is standard procedure to administer numbing medicine (often Lidocaine) before removing cavities and placing a filling.
