“Do you get immediate relief from acupuncture?”
I am a 33 year old male. I want to know if you get immediate relief from acupuncture?

We will exam 1st. Then provide dry needling 1st. Patients will find instant results in general.
Depending on patients’ medical histories and conditions, each patient will have different responses. Patients will have to follow up in 3-7days depending on severity.
Patients will be examined again on how much difference they have experienced since the initial acupuncture treatment.
Then we can give patients a plan for symptomatology.
If we find limitations in improvements, we will apply different plans as a holistic approach.

You should get some immediate relief usually at least 50% improvement but, how long will the relief last for? Typically, most conditions take one course of treatment for every year that the condition has existed, for example if you have had this condition for 2 years then 2 courses of treatment, one course of treatment is 12 treatments usually over 12 weeks. The results are cumulative and so to avoid riding the pain rollercoaster I usually schedule the patient to come 2-3 times per week or prior to the return of any symptoms the following week. For example if the patient comes in and their pain is rated 10 on a 1-to-10 scale, they get an acupuncture treatment and their pain goes down to a 3. I schedule them for the following week and ideally before the pain starts to increase. That way we can keep the pain threshold lower and start to increase the amount of time of pain relief. Chronic conditions and more severe conditions can take longer to heal than acute and mild conditions.
This would depend on your condition. If you woke up with a stiff neck from sleeping in a draft, then yes, probably. If you've been trying to get pregnant for the past 7 years, then no, it wouldn't be immediate.
Acupuncture treatment can immediately reduce the pain for pain management. If it is internal organs problems, it may take a few visits.
The short answer is yes. Acupuncture releases neurotransmitters within your body which then help release endorphins which which are the building blocks of blocking pain pathways.
Hello,
Yes, many patients experienced the relief within 5 to 10 minutes of the session. However, the result is dependent to the type/state of the conditions of a patient and the manipulation techniques of the acupuncturist.

While immediate relief is not always possible with acupuncture, most people should have results fairly quickly. What I tell patients is to come three times and if there is no change/improvement (not necessary 100% correction) then try someone else. In the case of treating pain, cupping can be a game-changer. However, it is also important to address the underlying so-called “imbalance” to correct and prevent the patient from gradually sliding back to the same imbalance that led to the painful symptoms, to begin with. But if you have not had any relief after 5 to 7 acupuncture sessions or any improvement at all, I would suggest you try another Licensed Acupuncturist.

It depends on what type of pain you are experiencing and how long you have had the pain. In any case, you are most likely going to feel a little better after the first appointment, but if it is a chronic problem it will take more treatments for the relief to last.
Acupuncture is a primary component of traditional Chinese medicine. It is most commonly used for the treatment of pain. It is also often used for overall wellness & stress management. Some people report they feel relaxed & others say they feel energized after each acupuncture treatment. However, not everyone responds to acupuncture. If there is no improvement to your symptoms within a few weeks, acupuncture may not be the right treatment for you.
Often patients notice a sense of relaxation and improved wellbeing after having acupuncture. Patients also report improvement in their pain after acupuncture treatments.
That depends, and is a very good question. If you have pain, you usually have some immediate relief, but acupuncture is a natural treatment and it takes time - a cumulative effect - to get the maximum relief. So, it usually takes a series of treatments to get where you want to go and you should have *some* relief that stacks with each session.
You can but that depends on the condition. For example, if someone is coming in for an acute condition (something that happened within the past few days), they may feel relief after the first treatment. If they're coming in for a chronic condition, however, it may take several treatments to feel relief.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It varies. I find that the less my patients are able to relax during the application of acupuncture needles, the more toxins in their system (including pharmaceutical drugs), the longer it takes.
You may or may not get immediate relief. And if you do get immediate relief, it may not last. So it's important that you get a series of treatments. Frequency and consistency are key. It's like getting a dosage of a medicine in your body. You need to get a series for the effects to last.
Yes, before I gave a lady needle treatment for her stomach pain, after I put needles on her body, 2 or 3 minutes later she felt total relief from pain.
Without knowing what your issue actually is, it's hard to say whether or not you might expect immediate improvement. I'm a pain management specialist and most acupuncture questions typically revolve around a pain issue, so I'm going to assume that's what we're dealing with here.
I'm also going to assume you're planning to see a board certified, state licensed acupuncturist rather than a chiropractor or physical therapist who may have minimal to no training in Chinese medicine.
Those assumptions out of the way, I can tell you that that vast majority of my pain patients *usually* experience some reduction of the pain on their first treatment. This reduction normally lasts 24-48 hours and then the pain will start to come back. For those that don't experience a reduction on the first treatment, things are typically trending downward by the second or third.
That all being said, there's about 5% of the population who, for whatever reason, don't respond to acupuncture. It doesn't matter who they see or how many times they go. If a patient makes it to the third treatment and they're still not experiencing any change in their pain, it means either they're in that 5% or I don't have a good handle on what's going on. Honestly, usually it's that I don't have a good handle on what's going on.
