Does CBT work for schizophrenia?

My friend was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Does CBT work for schizophrenia?

Yes, CBT is an effective evidenced based treatment method for schizophrenia. This is effective along with other treatments and pharmacological management such in patient-centered care with prescribing of medications, management of them, family intervention, supported employment, assertive community treatment, skills training as recommended, and rarely psychosocial interventions as prescribed from your doctor or licensed mental health care provider and the preferences of the patient. As always wishing you well.

The question of "does a treatment work" is a very individualized question and should be addressed by the treating physician. However, in general, the symptoms of schizophrenia are best managed through medications. Psychotherapy, whether cognitive behavior or other type of talk therapy, may be very helpful with regard to the patient managing their feelings regarding having a chronic illness or help develop coping strategies that will improve their functioning in a variety of settings.
Yes it does but should he combined with a medication regimen.
I think the type and severity will determine the answer to your question. A lot of cases of schizophrenia are treated with phamaceutical interventions in addition to CBT. I would always encourage CBT to be a part of the process, as long as the person is stable enough to take an active part in the CBT process.
It can help with medication
Cognitive-behavioral therapy can also help people with schizophrenia to develop better social and problem-solving skills, reduce the severity of symptoms, and lower the risk of relapse.
