Does acupuncture affect blood sugar? Acupuncture can help strengthen and balance your pancreas, and it that way, it can indirectly affect blood sugar. This, however, is not a one time treatment or a quick fix. These kinds of issues don't come on over night and don't get "fixed" overnight.
Hello, Yes, absolutely, there are protocols for reducing/managing blood sugar levels, some involve auricular therapy. Proper nutrition is also recommended, it supports the effects of Acupuncture.
Acupuncture along with herbs and sometimes massage can help with blood sugar issues. It might take from 2-3 months with sessions 2-3 times a week to see results.
Yes Acupuncture will lower your blood sugar so make sure to eat a protein rich meal beforehand to stabilize it.
Although I am not aware of any direct studies, it is possible that acupuncture, meditation, yoga, etc. can be of benefit to patients with diabetes by virtue of decreasing the stress levels and perhaps lowering levels of stress hormones. I would not substitute it for any medications your doctor has put you on however. If it is affective, your doctor should be able to lower or possibly discontinue some of your medications. Low carbohydrate diet, exercise and weight loss are still the mainstay of treatment of type 2 diabetes.
Acupuncture can help all your body systems level off, but it certainly won't have a deleterious effect on your blood sugar, if that's what you're worried about. And don't worry about them putting needles in your legs and feet. They are too small to cause any problems. I have treated MANY diabetics in my 21 years of practice with no problems whatsoever.
Acupuncture can definitely help with managing and lowering blood sugar. In my practice I also do work using functional nutrition which in combination with acupuncture would probably be the best course of action for you. I hope this helps!
