“Does being overweight causes heart problems over time?”
I am a 34 year old female who is 270 pounds. I can't tell if I have anxiety or heart problems. They feel the same.

It absolutely will. The increased stress on the heart muscle from the excess fat will lead to high blood pressure and an enlarged heart. It is vital that you take the time and lose your weight before you do long term damage to your heart. Please find a physician who specializes in weight loss (bariatrics) in your area and work with them to get your weight off and keep it off. Yes, it is a major risk factor for heart attacks and heart failure, even without the added associated risk of diabetes. A low-carbohydrate diet and regular exercise can help with reducing the risk and reducing anxiety. If you have tried every kind of diet and none of them worked, you should discuss gastric banding or some other kind of bariatric surgery with your doctor – it is often the only thing that DOES work. If you don't do something soon, you are heading for a fairly miserable middle age and not much beyond that. But if you take some definite action NOW, you can look forward to getting your life back, like any other young woman.
Being overweight puts an abnormal strain on the heart muscle. It has to work harder to pump blood to the body and keep up with the body’s needs. After time the heart muscle will tire and because it’s weak it will become large soft and baggy and then you have heart failure. As well along with this cholesterol and triglycerides increase and cause arterial blockages which can cause a heart attack. Also blood pressure can increase and contribute to heart failure as well as stroke. So weight loss can be life saving
