Does bonding a chipped tooth hurt?

I have a chipped tooth and want to get bonding. Does bonding a chipped tooth hurt?

No. You are just adding onto the tooth so it usually doesn’t even have to be numb
That’s a good question but the answer is no. Depending on the size of the chip, a local anesthetic may not even be needed. You might not need a shot! Bonding is a very common and routinely done procedure.
If the nerve layer of the tooth or the ligament surrounding the tooth has not be involved or bruised it should not hurt to have the tooth repaired. Your dentist should be able to determine that with a visual exam and an X-ray/ radiograph of the area/tooth.
Depending on how large the chipped enamel is there may be some cold sensitivity associated with ‘roughening the surface’ before the material is bonded but most times it does not require anesthetic.
No. There is no real drilling involved though it depends on how big the chip is.
No. If your treating dentist thinks the procedure will produce any feeling during the treatment he/she will give you some local anesthetic to numb the tooth. A vast majority of the chipped teeth I find and restore do not end up needing anesthesia.
