Hi, creative and somatic therapies can be incredibly effective for working with anxiety and alleviating symptoms. Exposure and Response Prevention has been shown to be incredibly effective when working with phobias. The length of treatment depends on your unique goals and needs. If you are in the United States then you can search for a provider who is licensed in your state. If you are within California - I have availability to accept new clients - please visit www.sylvansart.com for more information and to contact me directly.
Absolutely! CBT may not be the only therapy style that works for phobias, but it certainly is one of the main ones. It will help focus on the negative cognitions behind these phobias and work on reframing them. Your therapist will be able to best determine the approach to use depending on the severity and type of phobia you have.
Yes it does, but I have utilized EMDR therapy for phobias with better outcomes. That would be my recommendation along with exposure therapy (EMDR has a component of that as well.)
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is a common type of group therapy for phobias, although many forms of therapy use this method.
Yes! Cognitive-behavioral therapy is an excellent treatment choice for all kinds of type of specific phobias, such as fear of heights.
