Eye redness and pain

My right eye was itchy last night and I rubbed it a couple of times, probably too hard. It got super red so I put some eye drops in and went to bed. It’s still red on the lower half of my eye and it’s sore, but no longer itchy. I’ve been putting in eye drops regularly and putting a cool wash cloth over it. Is this something I should worry about and go to the doctor?

I would definitely recommend going to see a doctor if you feel like your symptoms persist or worsen. It is also important not to rub your eyes, and to only use eye drops that have been recommended directly by eye care practitioners such as optometrists and ophthalmologists.
If you are having discomfort you should go in. It is possible you have a foreign body stuck in there. Have them checked.
This is a subconjunctival hemorrhage, like a bruise. No treatment is needed. It takes 7 days to disappear.
You could use either systane ultra or refresh relieva eye drop few times a day if not better in couple days please seek your local optometrist for proper care. Please do not use redness relief eye drop…
Generally it is not an emergency. However, rubbing eyes creates excess inflammation so you may want to see an optometrist to see what is causing allergic reactions and prescribe the best eye drops for you.
Always see an eye care professional to rule out any eye disease.
I'm glad the eye is not itchy anymore. It would be helpful to continue using a cool compress about 2 minutes at a time over the eye at least 3 times per day. As far as eyedrops go; stick with something soothing such as Refresh Relieva, Systane Complete, or BioTrue Hydration. If you can place the eyedrop bottle in the refrigerator that would further calm the redness down. Put 1 drop in the affected eye every 2 or 3 hours.

If your symptoms do not resolve or you are noticing worse symptoms such as sensitivity to light, having discharge, vision is blurred or increased pain please visit your local optometrist.
Itchiness is usually a symptom of allergies. Try over the counter Pataday eye drops and if your symptoms do not go away I would go see an eye doctor.
It is probably due to allergy. If you are a contact lens wearer, you should visit your eye care provider and see if it is related to your contact lens wear. If it start to affect your vision and have light sensitivity, you should consult your eye care provider immediately.
Itchiness is sometimes related to an allergic reaction. Certainly rubbing your eyes can create more irritation and more redness. There are so many eye drops on the market that can be used for a variety of problems. Sometimes patients who use the wrong eye drops can potentially make things worse. Using a cool washcloth can reduce some inflammation. My best suggestion for you is to see an eye doctor in order to determine exactly what the problem is, and if drops are needed, to be treated professionally. Good luck and best wishes.
