Colon and Rectal Surgeon Questions Anal Fissure

Fissures

I had a fissurectomy 9 months back, got fissures after childbirth. After that I experienced itching and scratching feeling in anus but now I feel a kind of stretching in the anal area while passing stools; it remains for 2 -3 hours and sometimes after passing stools it stretches more and pains. I had a doubt that the normal delivery stitches are paining or are not done correctly as it pains the same side every day after passing stools. I had my pelvic area MRI done but nothing detected. Please help.

You should be seen by a colorectal surgeon to see if the fissure has come back. There are not many causes of anal pain and all 3 can be ruled out with a good exam. If none of those are seen, then there will be no surgical fix unfortunately. There are still options in terms of physical therapy and pain management.
It is important to have an examination including anoscopy by the surgeon who performed the surgery 9 months ago. But for topical itching relief, please use fiber supplement orally on daily basis and use OTC Lotramine cream at the anal area. This could improve the symptoms until you see the doctor.
This appears to be a complication of your fissurectomy. Have you seen your surgeon? Maybe you could get a second opinion. It doesn’t hurt to get to see another specialist at this time since your symptoms are persisting and you also said the MRI was unrevealing.
