I am a 59 year old male. I want to know how accurate are CT scans for kidney stones?

It is highly accurate. It can locate a small stone as small as 3 mm. that can't be detected by the renal ultrasound.
A CT scan is the gold standard for finding the location and number of stones that you have. A plain X-ray is used for diagnostic purposes and has less radiation, but not as sensitive and cannot visualize all stones, whereas a CT scan can.
