The simple answer is you can’t always know because your spine can be out of alignment and have no signs or symptoms or pain associated with it. The only way to really know is to have an x-ray And see a spine specialist such as myself
You need to see a chiropractor for an evaluation.
The best answer is to get checked by a qualified professional... see a chiropractor. The next best answer is to look at posture and finally, to consider past history of injury. While these next best answers are educated guesses, in the final analysis, if you're "out of alignment", you'll need to see a chiropractor to have it corrected.
Good ways to tell if you’re out of alignment is by your range motion. Is it harder for you to turn your head one way than the other? Is it painful if you turn your head one way, but not the other way or not as painful? Is it harder to lean one way than the other or now difficult to touch your toes or lean back? If any of these are painful, then those are also signs of being out of alignment.
Hope this helps!
