How do you reduce swelling from an infected tooth?

I am a 34 year old female. I want to know how do you reduce swelling from an infected tooth?

Swelling can be relieved temporarily with an ice pack to the area, 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off until you can get in to get the tooth treated. Ibuprofen can help with the inflammation. You best bet is to go to your dentist and have the area evaluated. They may give you an antibiotic to stop the infection. They may need to irrigate and drain the area if the swelling is really bad. Don't take any chances. See your dentist as soon as possible.
Hi,

I would recommend warm salt water rinses and apply a heating pad to your face. Also, try to get an antibiotic!
Good luck.

Swelling is a serious sign. Contact your dentist as you may need immediate treatment. Antibiotics would be the initial treatment if the swelling is caused by an infection.
