How do you treat pus in the gums?

I am a 37 year old female. I want to know how do you treat pus in the gums?

Pus in the gums may be a sign of a more serious gum infection and even periodontal disease. If it is just pus due to an ulcerative gingivitis, a course of antibiotics or a mouth rinse such as peridex may be enough. If it is due to periodontal disease, scaling and root planing with or without gum surgery may be necessary.

If you have pus in your mouth you need to go figure out why with your dentist. Depending on cause treatments will differ. Pus is from infection, infection bad.

You have an infection. See a dentist to diagnose and treat it.
SEE YOUR DENTIST OR A DENTIST RIGHT AWAY!!! Pus in the gums can be due to a buildup of plaque and bacteria due to the need for a professional cleaning (dental prophylaxis or "prophy") or it can be a sign of a more serious issue, such as an abscess caused by a dental infection. Some can be painless, but then again, some can blow up into something more devastating with respect to your physical appearance, your self confidence, and more importantly... your health!

This is a very important question. I am glad you are concerned and want improvement. Pus is the result of advanced infection of the gums. This could set the stage for loss of the teeth if ignored. The infection is caused by bacteria. Cleaning off all bacteria every day will result in improvement. This cleaning needs to be 360 degrees around every tooth. That means flossing and brushing every tooth. A fair amount of bleeding and discomfort will result from a 360-degree cleaning. They must be cleaned in spite of the bleeding and pain. You will need to do this every day. With time, the gums will begin to heal from the infection. All plaque and bacteria need to be removed. That is the cause of the infection. You have another option: Have your dentist clean your teeth really well. He may be able to use anesthetic for the procedure and make it more comfortable for you. Another option is taking a regimen of penicillin. This will kill the bacteria causing the infection. The gums will improve. However, as soon as the effect of the penicillin wears off, the infection will come right back. To prevent that, clean 360 degrees around every tooth every day. The best complete instructions about cleaning the teeth 360 degrees around every tooth are found in the book GROWING A HEALTHY CHILD, SECRETS FROM A WISE OLD DOC.
Good luck on your journey to better gum health.
There can be multiple reasons for pus in the gums. It needs to be evaluated with X-rays by the dentist.
