By using manual manipulation to realign the spine and release restrictions chiropractic restores function to help support the structure of the spine. Once things are moving properly they begin to function properly thereby reducing pain and dysfunction.
It all depends on the chiropractor you see. There are over 100 techniques in the chiropractic profession. After a careful history & evaluation, it should be determined if the neck is out of alignment. Also, consideration should be given to all the muscles that support the neck. Through gentle procedures, the neck pain can be relieved safely and effectively.
Chiropractic relieves pain by adjusting the spine where the nerves exist between the vertebrae. The spinal nerves carry pain signals to the brain.
When these nerves become pinched and inflamed from spinal misalignment or subluxation the result is pain. By removing this nerve impingement through chiropractic spinal manipulation there is a normalization of nerve energy flow which reduces pain. Keeping the body free of nerve impingement not only helps with pain management but also maintains health by keeping the nerves flowing without interference. These spinal nerves carry signals and energy from the brain to all the parts of the body. So, it’s important to keep the spine in proper alignment with chiropractic care.

By adjusting the vertebrae i.e. placing them in proper anatomical position.Chiropractic focused on the structure of the body, the spine and extremities Chiropractors manipulate the body's alignment to relieve pain and improve function and to help the body heal itself.
It does this by first increasing the motion within the joint by causing large diameter nerve fibers which detect motion to start reporting motion which then drowns out the noise of the small diameter fibers that sense pain. Next is through restoring motion which starts to pump inflammation out of your joints. Finally though the release of endorphins and enkephalins or feel good hormones. If the adjustment is performed in the neck it can release the above mentioned chemicals into the spinal cord through what is called the periaqueductal grey or a rain gutter that travels the length of the spine and can Fed Ex pain relievers to the places that are asking for it.
Chiropractic relieves pain my restoring proper alignment and function to the spine. This also reduces inflammation and reduces irritation on the nerves.
Hi. Depending on your current condition, Chiropractic can help to decrease tension around the neck muscles.
This sound on the surface like an easy question to answer, but in fact it is the most difficult to answer. The process of evaluating any condition begins with the consultation. When did the problem start? What was the initiating incident that caused the problem? Was there in prior problems with the area of complaint including adjacent areas? This means the neck, upper and mid back. In most cases there are additional questions. Then begins the examination which includes palpation, range of motion, orthopedic tests and possible imaging tests. All of these go into determining the diagnosis, need for additional evaluations, need for treatment and establishing a treatment plan. Finally evaluating effects of the treatments. This is a simplified statement of what need to be done for any condition and then now long it takes to receive results will become apparent.
That is a great question. The best evidence of how it relieves pain is that it frees up joint motion. Motion reduces pain. A chiropractic treatment also releases endorphins, which are feel-good chemicals. It reduces stress on the body as well, because the muscles don't have to work as hard to move the joints. There are other factors involved as well.
Pain along the spinal column in your neck or back is usually caused by misalignment of your vertebrae. A small misalignment can cause pain by causing pressure on nerves. Left untreated, these misalignment can cause muscle spasms and increasing pain. Chiropractic adjustments properly align your spine so that pressure on joints and nerves is released. It is a direct treatment for the cause of the pain, not a temporary relief like pain relievers or massage.
