“How long do braces take for crowded teeth?”
I am a 25 year old female. I want to know how long do braces take for crowded teeth?

Even the best estimate by the best orthodontist is an educated guess, because it depends on so many factors: the size of teeth and space available on the bone housing, whether extractions or expansion is necessary, your health and cooperation, medications taken, oral health, habits like grinding or clenching. To do a typical case well usually takes 14 - 22 months. An orthodontist who physically examines your mouth is better able to give you the best information.
Hi there!
It is a tricky question to answer. All patients are different and have different treatment requirements. Depending on the severity of your crowding, the treatment might range anywhere from 6 -24 months. The best way to find out is to schedule a consultation with an orthodontist. Most of us offer complementary consultation so you can get your questions answered at no cost.
Hope that helps :)

It all depends on the amount of crowding you have. It can take anywhere from 2 months to 3 years.

Each person is unique. A consultation is needed to give you a better estimate of time, and your best treatment options. Most treatments range between 12-24 months.
That is difficult to answer. It depends on how much crowding there is and where it is. Will extraction of teeth be required? In some cases extractions don't add much time in a severely crowded case but can add significant time in a moderately crowded situation.
The extent of crowding, and the degree of difficulty of a case influences a patient's treatment time. It would be impossible for ANY orthodontist to answer this question without seeing the patient. It could be anything from a few months to a couple years depending on the amount of crowding or spacing, posterior occlusion, skeletal imbalances, anterior relation, overbite/openbite, etc. Comprehensive orthodontic treatment is not just about straightening the teeth for optimal esthetics...it is also about getting the upper an lower teeth to fit properly together for optimal function, and so that they won't wear down prematurely over time.
Dr. Nicely answers: Depending on the severity of the crowding, braces can take between 6 months to 36 months to treat the condition. Everyone's bones, gums, and cheek/tongue muscle strengths are different, so please consult your orthodontic provider to get the best answer for your particular condition and situation! (Most orthodontic providers offer free consultations.)
