Autopsy usually takes two to four hours to perform. Preliminary results are withing 24 to 36 hrs., but the full results may take up to six weeks. Thank you.
Hello, an autopsy may take from 2-6 hours depending on the limitations stipulated, reasons and findings during the procedure. An autopsy report may take up to 2 months to come out.
The actual performing of the autopsy depends on the complexity of the case and how many people are assisting. I have been to facilities where 3 took place in less than 2 hours. I have done one with very little help that has taken 3 hours. This does not include examination of the slides, the paperwork, or the lab tests.
