My child has a hearing loss after a cold. Is it normal? How long does hearing loss last after a cold?

That is a prognosis that only the physician can give you in person after an examination and thorough knowledge of your medical history. I'm just a medical speech language pathologist. There are too many factors with a cold and with hearing loss to give you a "how long does it last" answer ethically.

If your child is experiencing hearing loss after a cold, you should take them to their primary care physician, who may refer you to an audiologist.

Your child may have wax build up or an ear infection, due to the cold. You should ideally have their ears looked at by their pediatrician, to rule out those two issues.
