My 11 year old son has an ear infection. How long does it take for eardrops to work for an ear infection?

Ear drops are the primary treatment for outer ear infections, like swimmers ear. A middle ear infection is behind the ear drum and ear drops only provide relief of pain. Ear drops do not cure a middle ear infection
