About a week or two for gums. But it will take about 3 months to complete healing around the implant.
Generally, a bone graft takes about six to eight weeks to heal. If you are planning on having an implant at the site, you generally need to wait at least three to four months before an implant is placed into a grafted site.
Healing of the bone graft has 3 phases. During the first 3-4 days you can expect pain and swelling antibiotics and pain meds are given to the patients to help with initial healing. Phase two will consist of closure of the surgery site and new bone formation. That phase takes approximately 1 month. The final phase is the new bone's final formation and reorganization. This takes 4-6 months after that time a restoration like implants can be initiated.
