Depends on the type of surgery. discectomy same day. Fusions maybe longer.
3 weeks
Almost immediately.

For more minor spinal surgeries, they are usually done in the morning and the patient is discharged and walks home by the afternoon. For more significant spinal surgeries such as multilevel spinal fusion of the neck and back, they are usually walking with therapy the next morning and discharged home 1 or 2 days after the surgery able to walk freely.
Typically you would be expected to walk right away after spinal surgery.
Hello. The answer to this is that in depends on the surgery. Simple diskectomy, laminotomy, fusion you are up walking the same day. There are exceptions if excessive blood loss, stretched nerve etc but these are rare. Early ambulation is usually recommended. Best to discuss this with your surgeon. Good luck.
It depends on the medicine they used to inject into the spinal anesthetic. Most centers who have adopted truly outpatient joint replacement are using shorter acting spinal anesthetic medications. In that case, it's just 3-4 hours. Otherwise, it's a bit longer than that, but still within a day.
Hope this helps.

Walking will start the day of surgery. Early mobilization helps to prevent blood clots and promotes healing. Most post op stays have been reduced to one to 2 days post op. It is essential that a post op patient can walk before discharge. Think of it as the key of freedom to be discharged to your own home.  Walk first... Discharge to home second.  Additional therapy will come to your home by a visiting therapist.
