Please ask your surgeon. He may have a special way to minimize the pain for the first 48 hours.
4-12 weeks normally.
Pain after bariatric surgery is generally pretty mild. I will send patients home with a small amount of narcotic pain medication, but the vast majority of patients do very well with just Tylenol by the time they get home.
I typically prescribe enough narcotics for 5 days and most patients say they do not take all of their pills. Soreness may continue for 2-4 weeks.
