My son will have an appendectomy. How long is the hospital stay for an appendectomy?

1-3 days if not complicated, otherwise up to 7-10 days or more.
For uncomplicated appendicitis, many patients go home the same day or the day after surgery. For perforated appendicitis, patients may have to spend 1-3 days in the hospital afterwards.

This depends on the severity of the appendicitis, and the age of your son. At most typically, overnight or as an outpatient potentially if less complicated appendicitis.
